What is a Mindful Approach to Coaching Runners?
A mindful approach is a complete holistic approach that leaves no stone unturned. We start by examining almost all aspects of your life that might affect your overall health, fitness and running ability.
When I say it’s about examining almost all aspects of your life, I’m not exaggerating! It’s looking at how you spend every waking hour. How are you getting to work? How are you sitting at your work desk? After all, if you work a 9 to 5, you’re spending the better part of your day here. There’s no way it doesn’t affect your body. What did you have for breakfast, lunch and dinner? How are you sleeping?
It all begins with increasing awareness. With awareness, comes knowledge and the ability to make the best decisions for your body, mind and spirit.
Mindful running coaching is a complete holistic approach that integrates all my areas of expertise, from nutrition to weight loss to powering long endurance efforts; from preventing and overcoming injuries to making massive comebacks from catastrophic accidents; and from quieting hyperactive ADD minds and relaxing stressed out bodies to helping you get into a blissful flow-state that we often refer to the elusive “in the zone state”.
I’d could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. At this point, you might be realizing, “It’s not just about the running, is it?” Nope, it’s about your life. But running can be the vehicle that gets your life into shape.

How is My Approach Different from Others?
In the traditional coaching model, the athlete’s mind is taken out of the equation. It tends to be cookie cutter–do this, run like that, and push through the pain and agony. With mindful running, you learn how to work with body mind and soul, rather than ignore it, leading to far greater gains, and more long-term success.
I take a radically different approach, helping empower you. Can I give you a daily workout or a weekly routine? Yes. Can I build a program to achieve your goals, set a new PR or run that fall marathon? Certainly! But can I help you discover the best runner inside of you, to help you chisel away the marble and unlock the David within, you betcha.
I help you discover your best you. I help you find your best form. The best drills and workouts for you. And how to work with, rather than against your body. And if you desire greater relaxation, fitness, a higher VO2 max, and greater endurance, than I have the mindfulness tools to help get you there!
On top of that, we can turn your runs into meditations, helping quiet, rewire, and supercharge your mind, not just for your runs, but for your life!

By the way, I don’t accept everyone into my coaching program.
I want to be absolutely clear. Mindful coaching with me is both an investment on your end as well as mine. Some people might think I’m just putting in an hour or so of work per week for you, but it’s much more than that.
I spend much more time thinking about you and your health and well-being than you will ever know.
It’s not just when we’re on Skype together. My coaching clients are constantly on my mind, before and after a coaching call. While you’re fast asleep, I could be busy thinking about how I can get more energy into you by improving your sleep!
My point is, I put my heart and soul into my coaching work. I take it extremely seriously and my coaching clients appreciate this.
So, in the rare case where I feel a client is not taking my advice and guidance to heart, essentially wasting their money and my efforts, I have been known to fire them as clients. After all, my time is extremely limited and I could be helping someone else. Now, I’m not trying to scare you. I’m an extremely kind and gentle human being–I wouldn’t even kill mosquitoes except I do for my wife’s sake. I just want you to know that I select coaching clients who are serious about improving their health and fitness and thereby their lives.
